Valther, son of Sven Elof and Augusta Mathilda JOHNSON, was born at Marvindale, Pennsylvania, USA, on 28 February 1905 but brought up in Sweden. He was baptised at Mount Jewett, McKean County, Pennsylvania, on 7 March 1905. He returned to the USA by sea in 1924.

The marriage license described Walter JOHNSON as a 32 year old white factory worker of Wayne, Michigan, whose birthplace was Pennsylvania, son of Elof and Augusta. Emma RYAN (sic) was 18 years old, white, who lived in Detroit and whose birthplace was Michigan. Her father's name was Harry and her mother's maiden name was Emma DITTER. WALTER A. JOHNSON
Age 81 of Westland died January 22 1987. Beloved husband of the
late Emma Ida, dear father of Mrs. Warren "Beatrice" Solomon, Mrs.
William "Blanche" De Rosia, Anders and his wife Vicki and Mrs.
Thomas "Ruth" WineKoff, also 11 grandchildren. Funeral was held at
UHT FUNERAL HOME 15116 Glenwood Road Westland on Jan. 26.

1930 United States Federal Census: Untraced with certainty. Two Walter JOHNSONs were found, born in the US in 1906 of Swedish born parents, but both had wives and one child. It is, of course, quite possible that Walter's marriage to Emma Ida Louise EDGOOSE or RYAN was not his first. He was 14 years her senior.
