John EDGOOSE married Rachell BIRD at Pinchbeck on 19 January 1631/32. In her book 'Geese, Gowts and Gallygaskins' Judith Withyman wrote that "Rachael BIRD, the nineteen year old daughter of Arthur the member of an arms bearing family which had come down from Penrith to seek their fortune, was pregnant when she married John EDGOOSE, a husbandman's son, in 1632. He was thirty one and his father had died eighteen months before the wedding and it may be significant that his future father in law was a signatory to his own father's inventory. The couple had thirty-five years of marriage and ten children, six of whom survived, three having good Puritan names of Joseph, Jeremiah and James." In fact there is no evidence that Rachael was pregnant when she married John EDGOOSE in January 1631/32. Her first child John EDGOOSE was baptised at Pinchbeck on 8 August 1633 followed by eight siblings rather than nine between 1635 and 1655.
