A Robert, son of John BROWN, was baptised at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 7 May 1648.

He was possibly the second son of the John BROWN of Pinchbeck, husbandman, whose will was proved in 1660. He was not, however, described as under 21 years old in the will, unlike two of his sisters.

"In the Name of God Amen I Robert BROWN of Pinchbeck in the County of Lincoln Yoman being of sound & perfect mind memory and understanding Doe make & Ordain this my last will & Testament in manner & forme following
And first & principally I comend my Soul to the Almighty God who gave itt & my body to the Earth to be decently interred att the discrecon of my Exec[utor] hereinafter named And for the temporall estate where with God hath entrusted me I dispose of the same as followeth
Item I give & bequeath unto my three grandchildren Thomas CATLIN Will(ia)m CATLIN & John CATLIN the sum[m]e of twenty pounds apeice of lawfull money of Great Brittain to be paid unto them severally by my Executor when they shall attiverall ages of Eighteen years But my will & direccons are that within Six months next after my decease my Executor put the said severall sum[m]es of twenty pounds out to interest to & for the use and benefit of my said Grandchildren Thomamas Will(ia)m & John CATLIN & that as well all such interest accrueing & ariseing therefrom as the said severall Sum[m]es be paid unto them by my Executor when they shall attain their severall ages of Eighteen years as aforesaid And further if either or any of them the said Thomas Will(ia)m & John CATLIN happen to depart this life before their attaining their s[ai]d severall ages of Eighteen years without Issue of their bodies lawfully to be begotten That then the part porc[i]on & share of such of them soe dyeing & all the interest therefrom arising shall be paid by my Exec[utor] unto the Survivours or Survivour of them (as the case may happen) when he or they shall attain unto their said ages or age of Eighteen years AnAnd if all my said Grandchildren Thomas Will(ia)m & John CATLIN happen to depart this life before they attain their said severall ages or age of Eighteen years & without Issue lawfully by them to be begotten then I give devise & bequeath the said severall Sum[m]es of twenty pounds in all making Sixty pounds & the interest accrueing or ariseing therefrom unto my Grandaughter Eleanor BROWN to be paid unto her when she shall attain unto her age of Eighteen years.
Item I give unto my GrandSon Richard HAMBLETON the Sum[m]e of twenty pounds to be paid unto him be my Exec[utor] when he shall attain his age of Eighteen years
Item I give devise & bequeath unto my Son Mathew BROWN All those my Messuage Eleaven acres & two roods of land & pasture be the same more or lesse Situate lying & being in Pinchbeck aforesaid which I purchased of John ALCOCK & is now in te &ac[i]on of Will(ia)m CHAPMAN To hold to him the said Mathew BROWN & his heires & Assignes for ever Upon this speciall trust confidence & condic[i]on that he the said Mathew & my son in Law Will(ia)m CATLIN (whom I hereby appoint Supervrvisor of & Assistant in the said trust Do out of the rents & profits ariseing from the s[ai]d devised p[re]misses yearly & every year during the naturall life of my daughter Rachael HAMBLETON at four severall quarterly payments in every year thhe first thereof to com[m]ence within three months next after my decease pay & dispose of for the only proper use & benefitt of my said Daughter Rachael HAMBLETON (dureing her naturall life as aforesaid) the yearly Sum[m]e of six pounds in manneer following (vixt) That they first out of this money provide for my said Daughter Rachael HAMBLETON necessary & convenient cloathing as well linnen & wollen of all sorts & shoes And after such convenient & necessary cloathing shall be provideded for my said daughter HAMBLETON that the Overplus remaining in the hands of my said son Mathew of the Sum[m]e of Six pounds yearly be by the said Mathew & Will(ia)m CATLIN disposed of for the sole & only proper use of my s[ai]d daughteter Rachael HAMBLETON as to the said Mathew & Will(ia)m in their discrec[i]ons shall seem fitting And whereas I have before devised unto my GrandSon Richard HAMBLETON the Sum[m]e of twenty pounds payable unto him when he shall attain his saiaid aage of Eighteen years Now my will & pleasure is That if my said daughter Rachael HAMBLETON depart this life before she shall have received by her said Annuity soe much money or vallue in clothing as aforesaid as will make the said legacie tto my said GrandSon Richard HAMBLETON the full Sum[m]e of Sixty pounds Then that the s[ai]d Sum[m]e of six pounds yearly ariseing from the before devised p[re]misses be kept in the hands of my said son Mathew untill the said Legacie of twenty pounds & annuity of Six pounds doe make the s[ai]d full sum[m]e of Sixty pounds And that then such remaining Sum[m]e of the s[ai]d Sixty pounds be paid unto my s[ai]d Grandson Richard HAMBLETON when he shall attain his s[ai]d age of E Eigghteen years And if the said Richard HAMBLETON shall happen to depart this life before he attain his s[ai]d age of Eighteen years That then such remaing Sum[m]e of the s[ai]d Sixty pounds be paid to all & every other the son or sons daughter or daughters of the s[ai]d Rachael HAMBLETON when they shall severally attain their ages of Eighteen years share & share alike

Item I give unto my maid Servant Rachael EDGOOSE One Guinea (if she happen to live with me at the time of my decease) to be paid her w[i]thin one month next after my decease.
And Lastly all the rest of my goods cattle & chattells lands tenements hereditaments & Estate real & personall of whatsoever nature & quality the same are or be I give devise & bequeath unto my said son Mathew BROWN & to his heires & assignehom I hereby make constitute & appoint whole & sole Executor this my last will & testament he paying my debts legacies & funerall charges & doe hereby revoke all former Wills by me heretofore at any time made
