Her daughter wrote:
"Mum worked at "Dusts of Tonbridge Wells" when she first left home where she "lived in". It was a very "high class" store and was still there up to a few years ago. It was a clothing store after the style of Debenhams.
Aunty Kit (Katherine Adams) was her great aunt on her mother's side. She wanted to open a dress shop and asked Mum to go to live and work with her and do the buying and pricing of the goods which she did and met and married Dad (Frank).
Considering the unhappy childhood she and Aunty Dorothy had, its amazing how "loving and kindly" they both turned out to be. She was very committed and hard working and enjoyed her gardening and was very good at dressmaking and art."
NOTES & QUERIES:
The marriage between a Katherine MILLETT and Ernest N. ADAMS was registered in 1929.
(GRO March Q 1929 Hendon 3a 613)
Was she the Katherine ADAMS referred to in the note about Violet Anna Rainford ENSOR? She would have been Violet's aunt rather than great aunt.
