William WANDLESS, a 26 year old bachelor and coal miner of 6 Dene Street, Shotton Colliery, and son of coal miner George WANDLESS married Eleanor STUBBS at Easington Register Office, County Durham, on 23 September 1905. Eleanor was a 19 year old spinster of Blue House, Haswell Moor, and daughter of night watchman John STUBBS. Witnesses were John WANDLESS (probably William's brother) and Dora STUBBS, Eleanor's younger sister.

Eleanor WANDLESS died in 1906 shortly after giving birth to Gladys and was buried at St. Saviour, Shotton, County Durham, on 20 November aged 21 [sic].
Her death aged 22 [sic] was registered in 1906.
