MARY EDGOOSE Before 1730-
The ancestry of this Mary EDGOOSE is uncertain. There are four possibilities:
1) Was she a hitherto unknown daughter of the John and Sarah EDGOOSE of Weston St. Mary, Lincolnshire? John EDGOOSE had married Sarah BENNET at Gosberton on 2 April 1723 and was living at Weston St. Mary from 1733 until his death in 1749.
2) Was she the daughter of John and Mary (sic) EDGOOSE who was baptised at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire, on 26 February 1715/16? (NB This Mary EDGOOSE is believed to be synonymous with the Elizabeth EDGOOSE in (3) below.)
3) Was she the daughter of John and Elizabeth (sic) EDGOOSE who married at Kirton-in-Holland, Lincolnshire, on 17 April 1711. In his will made on 6 April 1720 Thomas EDGOOSE of Pinchbeck, husbandman, refers to John, Mary, and Rachell EDGOOSE, the children of his brother John EDGOOSE. His brother John EDGOOSE was living and, of the children, John was under 21 and Mary and Rachell were under 17.

4) Was she the daughter of John and Mary EDGOOSE who was baptised at Spalding, Lincolnshire, on 5 October 1726? John EDGOOSE had married Mary JINKINGS at Tydd St. Mary, Lincolnshire, on 9 June 1724.
Mary EDGOOSE married Joseph SMITH at Whaplode Drove, Lincolnshire, on 26 June 1746.
No children of Joseph and Mary SMITH were baptised at Whaplode Drove between 1746-1758.
No identifiable children of Joseph and Mary SMITH were buried at Whaplode Drove between 1746-1764
No Joseph SMITH or Mary SMITH or identifiable children buried at Whaplode St. Mary 1746-1775
Were any of the following events connected?
Joseph SMITH of Holbeach, yeoman, died in 1748. He mentions four brothers and five nephews and nieces in his will but no wife or children.
