  DENIS JOHN MARSHALL Sergt. R.E.M.E. 1932- The birth of Denis John MARSHALL was registered in 1932. He was born on 26 December 1931. (GRO March Q 1932 [WAKELY] Stratton 5c 6) Jean EDGOOSE married Sergt. Denis MARSHALL, R.E.M.E., at the Royal Garrison Church, Aldershot, on 13 August 1954. According to her cousin Mary WEBB she met him at Takoradi whilst visiting there with her mother and stepfather. From the Aldershot News 13 August 1954: "WEDDINGS IN ALDERSHOT MISS J. EDGOOSE - SERGT. D. J. MARSHALL The wedding took place at the Royal Garrison Church, Aldershot, on Saturday, of Miss Jean EDGOOSE, daughter of Mr. F. EDGOOSE, 33 Clifford-avenue Taunton, Somerset, and Mrs. R. MILLER, 31 Cranmore-lane, Aldershot, and Sergt. Denis John MARSHALL, R.E.M.E, son of Mr. and Mrs. MARSHALL, 10 Lynstone-road, Bude, Cornwall. The bride, given away by Mr. R. MILLER, wore a full-length dress of off-white, embossed taffeta. She carried a shower bouquet of lily of the valley and pink roses. She was attended by her cousin, Miss Janet HAZELDINE, wearing a ballet length yellow net dress trimmed with green velvet ribbon, and carrying a crescent shaped bouquet of lavender and and yellow gladioli. The Rev. Joseph GOOCH officiated, and Mr, George MARSHALL (twin brother of the bridegroom) was best man. After a reception at 31 Cranmore-lane, Mr. and Mrs. MARSHALL left for a honeymoon at Hastings". In 1979 he and his wife were running a guest house at Flexbury Hall, Poughill Road, Bude, Cornwall.
