      It is believed that Raymond Bennett's wife Elda was originally from Yugoslavia. He may have married her there. The marriage cannot be traced in the GRO indexes for England & Wales.

      Raymond on 10th December 2005. Born 13th November 1913 at Tilney St Lawrence, Norfolk, now of St Albans. Captain R.A.O.C. (8th Army) - Husband of Elda, dearest father of Denys and Rosemarie and grandfather to Tom and Brendan. Family Service at West Herts Crematorium, Garston, on Friday 16th December at 9.40 a.m. followed by a Thanksgiving Service at the United Reformed Church, Homewood Road, St Albans at 10.45 a.m. Flowers please or, if preferred, donations payable to the Royal British Legion c/o Phillips Funeral Services, 68 Alma Road, St. Albans AL1 3BL (Tel. 01727-812244). He was a brave old soldier who will be most sorely missed.
